Rohan B. Ambade, Ph.D. Chemical Engineering-Jeonju, Republic of Korea.

Rohan B. Ambade was born in India in the year 1984. He did his schooling from Pravara Public School, Pravaranagar. Being born in the family of Chemical Engineers, Rohan followed the footsteps of his genius father, Shri. Balasaheb Ambade and elder brother Swapnil, and eventually went on to pursue a degree in Chemistry from Fergusson College, Pune. A curious researcher in Rohan eventually motivated him to join energy research led by his mentor Dr. Rajaram S. Mane.

In 2010, Rohan joined Prof. Soo-Hyoung Lee’s research group of “Organic Optoelectronic Materials” at Chonbuk National University, Jeonju, South Korea for his Master's studies. The initial and the most vital research lessons came to Rohan mainly during his Masters, where he had an opportunity to get hands-on experience in the synthesis and development of nanomaterials using facile solution processes. Moreover, he underwent a specialized training on the development of organic solar cells in a sophisticated, state-of-the-art clean room environment.

On completion of his masters, Rohan continued to work in the same research group for his Ph.D. Rohan’s research comprises of the development of nanostructured conducting polymers based Supercapacitors and Interfacial engineering of inorganic-organic hybrid solar cells. To his credit, Rohan has published high impact 20 SCI research articles, so far. Rohan is now set to graduate in Feb’ 2017. His recent publication on the unprecedented development of polythiophene nanofibers was chosen as one of the “HOT Papers” by a highly prestigious “Journals of Materials Chemistry-A.” Rohan had an opportunity to feature in American Chemical Society’s esteemed “Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN)” Magazine, along with his father Balasaheb and brother Swapnil. In an editorial, the editor-in-chief, Dr. A. Maureen Rouhi, described Rohan and Swapnil as promising researchers who are passionate and committed to energy research with the aim of providing clean and sustainable energy solutions to the society[http://cen.acs.org/articles/91/i24/Growing-CEN.html].

Apart from research, Rohan is a state-level basketball player and Maharashtra state qualified Basketball referee. Rohan plays professional cricket in Korea and is also an International Cricket Council (ICC) certified umpire.
